Make Them All Jealous,  Do Pilates!

Why Pilates?

The History of Pilates

In the 1920’s, a man named Joseph Pilates was driven by his strong desire to rehabilitate his own illness and began to combine inspirations from Yoga, Martial Arts, Bodybuilding, Gymnastics, and the natural movements of animals to develop the Contrology method. This method is better known today as Pilates.

What is Pilates & Why Should we Practice it?

Pilates is one of the safest and most balanced forms of physical activity. This practice incorporates specifically targeted movements focusing on mind and body connection along with strength training and flexibility. All movements can be modified to suit individuals needs, whether you have had a past injury, currently recovering from one, or experiencing chronic pain.  Pilates is perfect for athletes, individuals recovering from an injury, people with mental stress, and anyone looking to get/stay in great shape!

My love for Pilates began over 20 years ago while being bored and unmotivated by different types of workouts I had been trying out of desperation to get into shape. Until one night a commercial for a Pilates DVD set popped up. I figured, why not? And ordered the DVD's with little to no confidence of their effectiveness. I was quickly proven wrong and my love for this amazing physical activity flourished! I started to quickly notice that my “problem areas” were becoming more toned along with improved posture, strength, and confidence.

When DVD’s became obsolete, I turned to group Pilate classes where I discovered tools like the Reformer, the Wunda Chair, springboard, and a million new moves to practice. Once I had realized that these practices would stick with me forever, I decided to become an instructor.
